Residential Neighborhood in the South-West of the Krasnoselsky District, St. Petersburg

Client: St. Petersburg Construction Committee

Project goal: a creation in the network of perspective development of the city in the south-west direction a new modern residential neighborhood in the context with projected in immediate proximity international multi-functional complex Baltic Pearl.

The new residential neighborhood will be bounded by Leninsky Prospect, Doblesti St., Marshala Kazakova St. and Geroyev Prospect (currently being planned). The project covers 33.54 ha of unbuilt territory offering vast opportunities for developing a residential block with all required amenities.

The project, based on the comprehensive approach to environmental and legal problems, focuses on convenience, comfort and safety of all its components. The primary tasks consisted in identifying zones and parameters of future construction, social, transportation and engineering network development and location of building lines.

The public/business centre at the intersection of two arterial roads bounding the block is located along the same spatial and functional axis as the Baltic Pearl multifunctional complex. The selected design solution and the perimetric multi-storey buildings enabled to lay special emphasis on this important nodal point at the intersection of Geroev Prospect and Leninsky Prospect, an important thoroughfare providing access to the Peterhof Highway and the city centre. Another object of local importance is the emergency aid station with its fleet of 9 ambulance cars.

The block will be composed of 8 multi-storey residential complexes and 4 non-residential complexes located along the perimeter. The complexes will share the public space located in the middle of the area. This structure, which differentiates residential and public territories in the block, has a number of advantages: independent functioning of each residential complex, possibility of constructing additional educational and child-minding facilities with better insolation, enclosed leafy spaces away from transport thoroughfares, underground car parks.
